Youth Employment Paths in a Ghanaian Rural Community

Rural youth engage in different employment activities. Due to the scarcity of literature on activities and aspirations rural communities especially Africa, study examined past, present future out-of-school Amankyea, a community Atwima Nwabiagya district Ashanti Region Ghana. Three (3) focus group discussions interviews with 20 who were purposively selected conducted. Questionnaires also administered 270 randomly young people community. The data analysis revealed that farming, formal employment, informal enterprises, self-employment family employment. Although majority most them indicated their interest as aspiration. recommends farming should be made more attractive for choose an given skills training enable pursue self-employment.
